Session B2: The Future-Ready Shop: EVSE Service, EV Drivetrains & LPG Maintenance Playbooks

Participants will identify the maintenance, tooling, and workforce capabilities needed to prepare service facilities for a mixed advanced-technology fleet. They will compare the distinct service demands of EV charging equipment, electric drivetrains, and propane autogas systems. The session will provide actionable guidance for building shop procedures that improve safety, readiness, and uptime.

Based in Denver, Jim doesn’t just talk sustainability—he shapes it. He’s a key player in Colorado’s Electric Vehicle Coalition, Solar Energy Industries Association, and Clean Energy Action, working side-by-side with lawmakers and utilities in both Colorado and Hawai’i to drive EV-friendly policies. He’s also leant his expertise to the EV Council at NACS (National Association of Convenience Stores) and International Parking and Mobility Institute’s (IPMI) 2024 IPMI EV Readiness Resource Guide — both designed to help businesses nationwide future-proof their EV infrastructure.A proud Colorado College and University of Denver grad, Jim’s past includes pivotal roles at J.D. Power, American Honda, and Microsoft’s CarPoint. But for him, EVs aren’t just a career—they’re a way of life. When he and his wife bought their first electric car in 2012, it sparked a passion. Eight EVs and 13+ years later, their family is 100% fossil fuel-free.

Jay Canuso is a licensed professional engineer. He has more than 40 years of experience in the management, design and construction for a wide range of projects involving the environmental, mechanical, structural and civil engineering disciplines. His project experience includes design and construction management of highway, bridge and dam projects; structural engineering for building demolition and renovation; mechanical and structural engineering for industrial, commercial, institutional and residential buildings and support facilities; and environmental engineering for site assessments, asbestos and lead-based paint abatement and air quality monitoring.

Alex Hampshire began his career with Southern Company in 2002 at Alabama Power Company as a Transmission Line Design Engineer. In 2003, he transitioned to Georgia Power Company as a Fleet Engineer, where his primary responsibilities included designing and acquiring aerial and digger derrick trucks to support field operations. Alex currently serves as Fleet Services Manager for Georgia Power’s northern area, Atlanta Gas Light Company, Chattanooga Gas Company, and Virginia Natural Gas. In this role, he leads a broad fleet services organization that includes 81 team members, 6 supervisors, and 77 mechanics across 25 garages in Georgia. His team maintains approximately 8,200 assets across three states.
