Kelly McCarthy
Kelly McCarthy joins Clean Fuels Ohio as the CFO Northeast Director, bringing diverse experience in grant writing, program development and project execution in the sustainability, climate resilience and workforce and economic development sectors. Through her work, Kelly has supported mission driven organizations and coalitions in Northeast Ohio and beyond in advancing equitable solutions to critical environmental and economic challenges. Kelly has successfully secured over $144M in grant funding for initiatives in clean energy, climate resilience, conservation and workforce development, working with a variety of stakeholders including nonprofits, local governments, universities and more. Her ability to engage cross-sector coalitions, coupled with her deep commitment to addressing the climate crisis, positions her as a leader in driving Northeast Ohio’s transition to cleaner fuels and a greener economy.
Kelly was part of a team of land use and energy experts that successfully brought a $129M EPA Climate Pollution Reduction Grant for a two-county brownfield to brightfield project in Northeast Ohio. This initiative will lead to the development of 63 MW of solar energy, the deployment of a 10 MW battery system, the restoration and adaptive reuse of five brownfield sites, and the closure of a coal-fired peaking plant in a Justice40 community. Kelly’s strong track record with federal agencies, including the Department of Labor, Department of Energy, and the Environmental Protection Agency, highlights her capacity to secure and deploy transformative funding that aligns with Clean Fuels Ohio’s mission to accelerate the adoption of clean and alternative fuels and technologies.
In her new role, Kelly is eager to support Clean Fuels Ohio in growing a coalition of diverse stakeholders committed to reducing transportation sector greenhouse gas emissions in Northeast Ohio.
